Overseas Activities

IDH engages in overseas activities to strengthen international dialogue and cooperation on North Korean human rights, while deepening its understanding of democratic governance across diverse political and historical contexts.

To date, IDH has conducted official visits to the Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, Japan, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Switzerland, Taiwan, and the United Kingdom. During these engagements, IDH held discussions with ministries of foreign affairs, parliamentary bodies, and relevant public institutions on the human rights situation in North Korea, contributing to policy-oriented dialogue and constructive exchange. In parallel, IDH places strong emphasis on learning from the democratic histories and institutional experiences of each country visited. Through meetings with policymakers, experts, and civil society actors, IDH examines the development of democratic institutions, the protection of human rights norms, and national responses to historical and political challenges within different governance contexts.

IDH also engages with local universities to facilitate youth-led dialogue on North Korean human rights. By creating spaces for open discussion and exchange among students, IDH seeks to raise awareness, encourage critical engagement, and foster a shared understanding of North Korean human rights as a global concern. Through these overseas activities, IDH continues to expand its international network, promote cross-border understanding, and reinforce global solidarity in advancing democracy and human rights.
